I used to spend hours (and sometimes days!) in the darkroom
making my fibre based prints which I exhibited and sold
through galleries in the UK. Recently, I have started
to make Giclée (inkjet) prints. I consider this
technology has now started to catch up with conventional
wet process enabling me to produce the quality and longevity
in my prints that I desire, Epson suggest a life expectancy
of 100 years or more might be possible. I use an Epson
2100 printer with Epson pigment inks and Epson or other
makes of archival paper, printed on A3 with an image
size of around 23 centimetres or 9 inches. I tone most
of my prints (if appropriate) in the same way as I did
when I made my record rapid prints in the darkroom. As
I only make prints to order, no two prints are ever the
same making each one unique. They are all limited editions
of 80 dated, signed mated and sleeved.
Over the last few months I have been busy scanning my
monochrome and colour negatives that were made with my
trusty old 6 x 6cm Bronica over the past 20 years and
adding them to my collection. These images were mainly
made around Scotland, Cumbria and a few from Spain.
I hope you find my images interesting and please feel
free to contact me with any questions you may have regarding
my photography.
