To give you some idea of my background. After undertaking
an indentured apprenticeship, (they had them in those
days) I became a staff photographer on the Coventry
Evening Telegraph newspaper and had work published
in national newspapers and magazines. I then moved into
the West End of London where I established a studio in
the old Covent Garden working
for clients such as 'New
Scientist', 'New Society',
'TV Times' and the music
industry, Island Records and disc jockeys such as Dave
Lee Travis (DLT), Emperor
Rosko and the late Tommy Vance. I also worked for
a spell with a publisher on magazines 'This Hertfordshire' & 'This
Essex' and yachting magazine'Power & Sail'.
I then establishing a photographic facility for the London
Borough of Hillingdon to service the Press Office and
other departments such as Social Services and Planning
as well as providing the photos for the award winning
newspaper 'Forward in Hillingdon'.
Feeling the need to develop my personal work I subsequently
undertook a Degree in Fine Art and for a number of years
afterwards established and ran artists studios and a large
gallery space in Carlisle.
Over the past few years, I have established a digital
photographic facility at the University of Cumbria which is the main resource
for the 3 year Honours Degree course in Photography.
I also continue to work as a freelance editorial and
commercial photographer and recently started to supply Alamy
stock photography with my work.
